Peter Couperwas 24 yrs old when he married
m. Isabella Guthrie Sept 17 1864she was 22 yrs old
Peter was an iron turner & lived at Lily Bank, Dundee
Isabella was a spinning mill worker and lived at 57 Panmure St Arbroath

at this point Peter emigrated to Canada.Peters name was changed to COOPER due to postal errors while in the Maritimes.
He settled in Toronto and Isabella and the children followed.They had 2 more children...

Isabella Guthrie Cooper
nine days after the birth of Isabella, mother Isabella died.
She is buried Necropolis Cemetery Toronto.
Peter sent back to Scotland for Isabella Sr.s sister Annie Guthrie to come over to help raise the kids.
Six weeks after she arrived, she fell from a streetcar and was an invalid the rest of her life, which was spent in Home for the Incurables in Toronto.
Peter sent for another sister, Barbara Guthrie.
They were married but had no more children.
Description of Peter Couper...
short man of ruddy complexion.A strong, stubborn person.
He apprenticed in Scotland and worked for the Grand Trunk Railway.After his retirement he was often called in to consult.He lived with his daugher Belle until died age 89.
in about 1929.
David Guthrie Cooper owned a flower shop in Toronto.
His son Robert David (Budd) was killed at Vimy Ridge in April 1918.
George Cooper married a girl from show business and had children, but then he left one day and never returned.His sister Maggieheard that he died in Chicago and went to the funeral home to see if she could recognise him, but was never sure if it was or not.
I'd appreciate any info you get on George Couper & Helen McKay and any other children of theirsie Alexander
