What a wonderful piece of information!!! Thank you for sharing it.

We know that the Countiss family was English and attended the Church of England when they came to America. There is a town in England called "Countissberry" but so far I do not know of a direct link to the Countiss family in America.

Prior to James Countiss in MD there were others in PA. A city lot in Philadelphia Co PA was purchased in 1684 by William Countess, and a lot on Chestnut St in Philadelphia PA was purchased in 1690 by John Countiss.

I hope to hear from you soon - I would love to be able to find the direct link to the ancestors of James Countiss.
