William Countiss 1397 to James Countiss

The first mention of the name Countiss, that
is recorded, is of a William Countiss listed
in the 1397 Yorkshire Poll Tax List. Does
anyone out there have any info that could
possibly tie this William Countiss in as an
ancestor of James Countiss living in Maryland
in the early 1700's?
