My group of Countiss family dates back to the Primitive Baptist Church - which I have found also connects to the German Reform Church and Lutheran churches.
Do you have the publication: THEY PASSED THIS WAY (a History of the Countiss/Countess Family) ?
If not, I will gladly look up info. for you from mine. There is quite a bit on John, 4th child of Peter and Martha Burtt Countiss. Between 1808 and 1820 they and most of their children moved from Russell CO VA to Warren CO TN.. There is also info. on Grizzle: Curtis,Daniel and Nancy.
Also quite a few RAY family is mentioned but no record of the Grammer family.
My 92 year old mother is a Countiss from TN.. I am also researching my grandmother's family Sharp (Scharp) of TN. who immigrated in 1738 from the Palatinate region of Germany and were German Reform Church there and Primative Baptist here.My Countiss family was and is P.Baptist. That is why I suspect the early Countiss may have been German Reform, though I have no indication of it other than my speculation and no reason to believe they immigrated from Germany. Just a hunch worth looking into. For years we had thought the Sharp (Scharp) family came from Scotland until recent findings of ship lists and christening records in Germany told us otherwise. Let me know if I can be of help.
