(Not sure if you've had a private response, and forgive me if this is old news.)

I am a descendent of the Layne/Thompson/Countess family, sister of a previous poster here. Indeed, a number of my family members have been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, though our family seems to have its own variation. It has passed from the Overturfs to the Laynes via Hazel Dessie Overturf (var. is Dessie Hazel Overturf), who was the daughter of Ora Bonita Thompson. I confess I am not as knowledgable about other ancestors who have suffered from this disease, yet my father and 3 out of 5 of his siblings have it, so I am very much aware of its manifestations.

From my research today, I traced our Thompson link to this website: It seems that all traceable ancestors hail from England, with the exception of a Johannes Voltz from Germany.
