Since I had not identified John Council and Elizabeth Drake in my personal research I obviously don't have their children documented. But - here's a consolidation of what other researchers have:
(See posting #230 and 117) these two identified Hodges Council as a son and his wife Lucy Hardy.
(Posting #47) has identified a daughter, Olive Council born 1613, died after 1670 and married to John Hardy in 1632 Bedfordshire, England.I find this interesting in that if Olive and our Hodges are siblings then they both married into the Hardy family.Hodges to Lucy and Olive to John.
(Posting #112)identifies a son Hodges Council but no wife is identified. Also there is a daughter listed as Isabella Council married to Col. William Mayo in Isle of Wight Co, VA.NOT ACCURATE --------
From "Marriages of Isle of Wight County Virginia 1628-1800" by Blanche Adams Chapman, pg 32 provides William Mayo married to Isabel Hardy in 1681 in Isle of Wight County.Another source for this information comes from "17th Century Isle of Wight Co, VA" by John Benett Boddie, pg 610-611 abstracted from Deed Book I.William Mayo is granted 170 acres by Lt. Gov. Francis Nicholson beginning at….10-20-1691.He assigns this land to Thomas Lewis, son of Richard Lewis lately deceased with consent of Isabella my wife.08-09-1693.Isabella Mayo makes her brother Hodges Council atty to acknowledge deed.Test, Henry (HB) Bradley, Hodges (HC) Council.(My comments:"her brother Hodges Council" is actually her brother in law married to her sister Lucy.It was quite common to identify "in laws" as brother or sister. Both Lucy and Isabel are daughters of John Hardy)
Lastly (see Posting #392) This researcher identifies a son, Hodges Council born in 1579 married to Maud in 1638 in Devonshire, England. They had a daughter Olive Council born 1615 in Yorkshire, England who married John Hardy Sr in 1632.This is the only researcher that provides the "Maud" connection.I can't get my arms around this connection at all.
Again, if anyone can provide some sources to support any of this, it would be great if you would share with us.
Happy Hunting, Edie Rider
