Hello Cynthia, do you know, when and where Mahala died? Do you have proof that John Coulter is James' father? In the 1830 GreeeneCounty,Tn census there is a John Coulter,40, our James 30 and a James 60, they live next to each other,so I assume they are related and I always assumed James sr. was James' father.I have copies of landrecords in BuncombeCounty,Nc,where James and John are mentioned.
If you dont mind, I would love to hear some of those stories about Mahala, that your grandmother told you.
I have also Susanna Ball Coulter's line,in case you dont have that or Mahala's siblings, please email me
Jerry
