I was pleased to receive your message re the above subjects. About 20m years ago I received a message from James Coughtrey of Nottingham re the Coughtrey family in Canada. I replied giving him the details of our immediate conection. Over the years we corresponded, I met with James several years ago and was given the details of Jame's reseach. I have details dating back to the early 1600s of the Coughtrey family. I have shared this info with several people in the UK, USA, Austrralia, and Canada. I have found the details of your family I can follow your line back the 1600s. The family settled in the Chesham area and in fact there are still some Coughtreys still living there. I know that you were born on Nov 11, 1942 in Barnet and that your Great Grand Father had 3 wives and your father's name was Frank. My father was born in Glasgow and came to Canada as an orphan in the early 1890s. His siblings also followed to Canada at a later date. He had 3 brothers and 2 sisters, all now deceased. I also should have mentioned that James Coughtrey, the reseacher of all this info is also deceased. As you mentioned in your message the Coughtrey has changed many times since the early 1600s, in fact, on one sheet the name is spelt 12 different ways. If can help you in any with your search please keep in touch.
Best regards. Des.
