Looking for info mainly on his wife, Mary Elizabeth Durphey of Appomattox, Campbell, Lunenburg Co's VA.
According to census records, he and his family lived in the Clover Hill area of Appomattox Co and had 5 kids, 3 of whom survived to adulthood.
Did he serve in the 18th Reg, VA Inf. Co H? He died after the 1880 census. I believe he was at one time a merchant. Was he born in Buckingham Co VA?
I have been tracing the Durphey line in these three counties plus Prince Edward Co VA for over 20 years.
Any info greatly appreciated.
