I found this on the Harris forum yesterday, there was some information on generations and families too but I didn't save those. Search under Malachi, or Couch for starters. It would be interesting to see the whole letter about Malachi's drowning and the family ties mentioned.

According to a letter from "General" Jackson Couch, my great grandfather, to his niece Effie Couch, which describes the drowning of Malichi Couch, he says:
"Grand Mother Couch [I presume he is talking about Malinda] maiden name was Moss."
and later in this same letter:
"I can't tell grand mother Harris maiden name. Her step mother was name Moss. She was a sister to grand mother Couch."
Perhaps this means:
Malinda Couch was Moss?
Catherine Young Harris' stepmother, Elizabeth Moss was a sister to Malinda Couch?
Interesting, huh?
