Hi! I am researching my Great-great grandmother, Nanny Couch. I have reached a dead end and wonder if any can help. Nanny married Sidney Morrow somewhere around 1890 or so. They had one daughter, Allie B. Morrow who married Walter Scott Boyer. Here is what I have so far on Nanny: Nanny was born Jan. 1871, the daughter of a Lazarus Powell Couch. I have no name of her mother. In 1870, Lazarus was living with his parents-- Curtis N. Couch and Martha A Cargile. Here are the facts I have so far: Nanny: born: Jan. 1871 in Dixon, Webster Kentuc Married Sidney: Died: 10 April 1895 of Pneumonia. Sidney died in 1892 They had one daughter, Allie B. Morrow, who lived with Lazarus P. Couch in Webster, Kentucky. He is listed as her grandfather. I never could find Nanny listed with Lazarus, though. Nanny was born 1871, but Lazarus married Mary McKenny in 1874 or so. In the 1880 Census, Nanny is living with Curtis N. Couch. She is listed as his granddaughter, and he is listed as a school teacher. They live in Webster, Kentucky. Curtis was born in Virginia around 1824. Both parents are listed as having been born there. So, in summary: Lazarus Powell Couch was living with his parents, Curtis N. Couch and Martha Cargile in 1870, in Webster Kentucky. He has a daughter, Nanny, in January 1871. With whom? In 1874 Lazarus married Mary McKenny. In 1880 Nanny is living with Curtis Couch, listed as granddaughter.Later, Nanny's daughter Allie lives with Lazarus after she passes away. I do know that Nanny was a music teacher--Allie, Ma Boyer to me, played piano, too. Her husband, Sidney Morrow, was a lawyer. I would like much more information about the Couch family. I have not been able to trace Curtis Couch further than Webster, Kentucky. I note on the census he and Martha have a couple of daughters, Frances and Margaret. Does anyone know who Curtis' parents were, and where he was born in Virginia? thank you for any help you can give. Notify Administrator about this message?
