Matthew, according to my notes, your John S. Couch was born abt. 1852, the son of William & Sarah. William's father is F. Andrew Couch & I think his father was Edward Couch.
I think all the people you are looking for will be found in Huntingdon Co. PA. I show John S. in the census in Huntingdon Co.---1860-p 28, 1870-p482a, & 1880-p 72c.(Barree Twp.). This is not my Couch line, so you need to check all this info. It should get you in the right direction.
