I have noticed that the will of Thomas Couch (b: 1710-1720 in Prince George County, Virginia) is often incorrectly transcribed. My cousin, Jerry Benedict, picked up a certified true copy of this will at the Abbeville Courthouse on January 29, 1981. Many in our Couch family descend from Ole Thomas Couch. Most transcribed (typed) copies I have seen leave out a most important portion of this will, where it specifically states "....I gave my son Thomas Couch one shilling sterling..." This is a very important portion of the will of Ole Thomas of Enoree, 96th District, South Carolina because, his son Thomas (whom we refer to as Thomas III) remained in Orange Co, NC when Ole Thomas left for Enoree, SC and received a land grant for 300 acres there in 1766. Thomas III acquired over 1,600 acres of land in Orange Co, NC prior to his death, and a portion of this land is now the Couch Tract of the Duke Forest, Durham Division, North Carolina. If you would like a copy of the "Certified True Copy" of the 1776 Will of Thomas Couch of Enoree, South Carolina, please let me know. I will be happy to send you a copy for xerox and postage cost only. The document is 17" x 11". Thanks, David Couch
