My father had a half brother called James William Cotterill(the surname could be spelt different ways) born in Dartford, Kent, England in 1894. I have tried to trace him in English records, but the last I could find was in 1901 census. Today, looking through Ancestry, I discovered US Army records for a James William Cotterill born in Kent, England. It is possible that it is my uncle. He was living in Philadelphia when he signed up and was married. Does anyone know anything about him?
