Hi, I have this marriage between Bertha/Birtha Cottrill/Cottrell and Edwin Fowler, 1840, Geauga County, OH. There is a possibility that my Great Grandfather, Ezra Lonzo Fowler, bn 1842, is their child.
Bertha Cottrill Fowler died in 1844. The closest I have come to finding which Cottrell/Cottrill family Bertha is from is the 1850 Lake County, OH census record which shows the household of Norman Cottrell, age 29, and Nicholas Cottrell, age 74, (his father?) and a small child named Ezra, no surname, just says what could be read as "grandson". The age is off by a year or two, not unusual for census records, if the mother is not there.
If Ezra is the grandson of Nicholas, bn 1776, then Nicholas would be the father of Bertha/Birtha Cottrill/Cottrell, bn 1806.
Does anyone know for sure the names of other children of Nicholas Cottrell?
