Mary, I do not have the area of Ohio the Cottrell's were killed, or the exact tribe who did the deed. At least one researcher says it was the Parkersburg area of present WV. Others say the captive/s were taken to their towns in Ohio & raised as their own. One source says the family tradition relates that the entire family, except one girl was killed. How will we ever know for sure??? Some say Cherokee, Erie, others Deleware, but I think the tribe was Shawnee. What stories have you heard? I may also be reached personally at WVRoots@aol.com.
