I have had many inquiries about Andrew Cottrell/Cottrill of Harrison Co., WV/VA and his connection to other Cottrells/Cottrills listed on the Hackers Creek Web Page.
First: Andrew Cottrell/Cottrill b. 1740 MD
and married to Nancy Moore in 1763/1764 in
MD.
Children:
1. Elizabeth (b. 1766 MD) and married John Nutter on 2 Oct 1786 in Harrison Co., VA/WV
2. Andrew (b. 1768 MD) and married Mary Davis on 22 Nov 1793 in Harrison Co., VA/WV
3. Thomas (b. 1770 MD) and married Catherine Akert on 30 Mar 1791 in Harrison Co., VA/WV
4. William (b. 1772 MD) and married Rachel Hughes on 19 May 1794 in Harrison Co., VA/WV
This Andrew Cottrell/Cottrill was not related to the Samuel and Peter Cottrell/Cottrill that is listed on the Hackers Creek Web Page.
The Samuel Cottrell/Cottrill that is listed on the Hackers Creek Web Page as Andrew Cottrell/Cottrill brother is not his brother.
Samuel Cottrell/Cottrill was the son of Charles and Mary (?) Cottrell from Amelia and Cumberland Co., VA. Samuel Cottrell/Cottrill came to Harrison Co., VA/VA area in 1776 and signed a petition to establish that county in 1777. His last name Cottrell was never written nor listed as ever being Cottrill. It was Cotral or Cotrel but never as Cottrill.
The Peter Cottrell/Cottrill listed as Peter No.2, was never in Harrison Co., VA/WV area.
Peter Cottrell is the son of Richard and Mary (Atley/Alley) Cottrell from Henrico Co., VA. He is listed in his fathers bible record and will. Peter Cottrell was also never listed nor written as Cottrill. It was Cottrell, Cotrell, or Cottrall. The spelling of Cottrill has never been associated with his name. Peter and Susanna (Sheppard) Cottrell were never in nor near Harrison Co., VA/WV. Any and every document found on these individuals and family is in Henrico Co., VA and Shelby Co., KY.

As far as the Hackers Creek Web Page that has the Don Norman files on the Cottrells/Cottrills, I do not and will not use any info from this web page.
As far as my research and the Cottrell name I do not attempt to list thousands of Cottrells simply to make my gedcom look impressive or that I am a super duper researcher. My gedcom is for one purpose to show the Cottrell family line that is in my connection and to have it listed correctly.
My uploaded gedcom is also not based on speculation nor assumption, if I don't find it to be a verified fact then it does not get listed.
Also if you find any errors and can send proof that they are mistakes, I can and will remedy the situation immediately.
