Delilah Coterel(Cotrell) bca. 1818 in Ohio was married to Daniel Clark March 19, 1837 in Pike County, Ohio. It is very likely that she was a daughter of James Coterel (Cotteral,Cotrell,Cottrel). James Coterel was living in Richmondale, Ohio (Ross County) in 1819. James Cotrell was the only Cottrell living in Pike or Ross County in 1820. According to the 1820 census, he had at least 6 daughters and 3 sons. His wife's name is unknown to me. I have found no written or oral proof that Delilah is one of James Coterel's daughters. I have associated them by the County they were in. There was an Elizabeth, Patsey, Polly, Lucinda, and Delilah Coterel married in Pike County Ohio. Each were young enough to be James' daughters. Also, there was a Benjamin, Lewis, and Harrison Tyree married in Pike County Ohio. I believe that all 9 of tese people are the sons and daughters of James Coterel who was born in Virginia or North Carolina circa 1765. It is possible that he was born somewhere outside of the U.S.

There is a WFT reference to a Nancy Cottrell being married to Simon Clark. According to that record she was born 1803 in North Carolina and died in Palmyra, Iowa. Simon Clark was born in Ross County Ohio and died in Warren County, Iowa. Thet were wed in Ohio. They had 6 children born in Jackson County, Iowa. Simon's father was Daniel Clark. Nancy's father was a James Cotrell. I'm curious about these Coincidences. Is it possible that Nancy is the 6th daughter of my clan and if so is Delilah's Daniel the bother of Simon ?
