Charles Edward Hopkins, 83, of 407 S. Webster, died Friday at 10:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospita. He had been ill three weeks.
He was the son of Thomas J. and Sarah Jane Cottrell and was born in Wapello County April 27, 1880. He spent all of his if in Wapello and Marion counties. He was a farmer and moved to Ottumwa when he retired in 1953.
His marraige to Nora Ella Zech took place Feb. 22, 1903, in Warren County. She preceded him in death as did a daughter, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include a dauther, Mrs. Ethel Orman of Ottumwa; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
The service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Traul Funeral Home. The Rev. La Verne Morris of the Davis Street Christian Church will officate. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn. Pallbearers will be Howard War
ner, Floyd Hopkins, Ed Radden, Bruce Turner, Robert Lewis and Harold McCall.
NOTES: This Obit was a clipping that was among my grandfather's possessions at the time of his death. "ED" Hopkins was my GrGrGrandfather; father to Ethel; grandfather to De Wyatt Rumbaugh-everyone else is still living.
