John Cottrell of Monmouth Co., NJ bound 22 Jan 1762, to Josiah Hardy, Governor of NJ, obtained license to m. Hester Layton of Shrewsbury. Robert Cottrell of Mideltown, Monmouth, NJ, bound to William Franklin, Governor of NJ, obtained license to m. Rachal Rogers of Shrewsbury. Robert Cottrell [1738-1811] and Rachal Rogers [1748-1823] are buried in the Dorsett Town Historic Cemetery, Monmouth Co., NJ. Did they have children? William Franklin Cottell, b. 1804 in KY, m. his second wife, Rachel Rogers, b. 25 May 1805, TN., d/o Joseph Rogers [1783-1865] and Margaret Morgan, b. 1783. Rachel Rogers was apparently m. to John Williams, a Mr. Hughes and to Elijah Brock before she m. William Franklin Cottrell in 1850. Wm. Franklin Cottrell, d. 26 July 1876 in Neosho Co., KS. He was the father of Elias B. Cottrell [1848-1932] who was the father of Ray Noel Cottrell [1894-1867] the father of Geraldine Ann (Cottrell) Williams, my beloved wife who d. 2006. Was William Franklin Cottrell a descendant of Robert & Rachal (Rogers)Cottrell? Was Rachel Rogers d/o Joseph & Margaret Rogers related to Rachal Rogers, wife of Robert Cottrell?
