Does anyone know anything about this Thomas Cottrell, brother of John Cottrell of Baltimore Co. MD?
He is referenced in the following will.
"11-26-1776
I, JOHN COTTERILL (spelled as shown) of Baltimore Co., planter, bequeath
to SARAH, my wife, 3 slaves. Bequeath to my daughter-in-law MARTHA WOOD, 2
slaves. Give my brother THOMAS COTTERELL (spelled as shown) my stock.
Give my son-in-law LUKE RAVEN, my gun - my wife SARAH and my
daughter-in-law MARTHA WOOD and cousin JOHN COTTERELL. Appoint friend John BUCK, Sr. as
Executor.
Witness: Willie Davis, Moses Galloway, Thomas Eaglestone
12-9-1766 (The year 1766 is correct in the record)
Came William Davis and Thomas Eaglestone, 2 of the witnesses."
I have a Thomas Cottrell in Granville Co. NC around 1796 and Richard Cottrell believes that Thomas is one of the MD Cottrells. I have made no progress at all.
Here is all I know:

Para.17 [NOT SURE WHEN HE DIED--DID HE JUST MOVE?]
MARK and WILLIAM COTTRELL, minor orphans of THOMAS COTTRELL, deceased, being over 14 years old, chose THOMAS COTTRELL JR, as their guardian. THOMAS COTTRELL[Jr.] appointed guardian to ELIZABETH, SAMUEL, and MARY COTTRELL, minor orphans of THOMAS COTTRELL, deceased" [The fact of a guardian being appointed suggests that their mother may be dead and that the orphans have some property to be inherited upon reaching age of majority, I think--bap]
This establishes that AT LEAST these are the children of THOMAS COTTRELL SR. (d.abt. 1795-6)
Of course, there could have been older children.
