I'm trying to put together information about my gggrandfather's
family. He was Charles H. Cottrell, and was living in Brooklyn
in the 1850s. He had a daughter, Alice Cottrell who married
John Faith. Charles' brother, Joseph Cottrell Sr. was a detective
for the NYPC, as was his son John. Daring Joe Cottrell Jr. was
a NYFD chief(now Engine 233) was killed on the way to a fire.
Another son, William was a supervisor for the elevated rail and
died of TB. William, Joe Jr., and their mother, Jane, are buried
in Calvary Cemetary. If anyone is related or might have any
further info on them, please write.
