My GGGGrandfather was Caleb Cotten born about 1780 in NC. He married Nancy Meredith Surry Co. NC marriage bond 16 Nov 1801. They later appear on the 1810 Census of Rutherford Co. Tennessee with one son and three daughters under 10. In 1820 they appear in the Census of Pope Co. Illinois. Caleb also appears as a landowner in 1820 in Pope Co. Illinois. Caleb's father was a James Cotten born in NC or VA. They appear together as witnesses of a land transaction in Wilkes Co. North Carolina in 1795. I am not aware of a marriage for Caleb previous to Nancy Meredith or of him having a son Allen. If you have any information regarding this I would be interested. I have been researching to find Caleb's ancestry; his father, mother or siblings. I would be interested in any information regarding this. I have information on the descendants of Caleb and Nancy Meredith Cotten.
