Cotton of the 87th PA Inf - Civil War

Looking for info on a Civil War veteran named William Cotton, who served with Company B of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. The unit mustered in York in September 1861, but William did not join, and then as a substitute, until July 7, 1864. He was probably not from York County.
