Avant W. Cotton was born in Ga and lived in Dale Co., AL. His grandaughter (parents unknown), Rilla J. married George Godwin in 1873 in Dale Co. Avant was married to Dorinda ? who was also born in Ga. The family is said to have been native American. I have not found any claims made on the Cherokee records. Looking for info on this family.
