Dear Carol: Regarding the subject. You say her father was John White Cotton.We feel sure that if you find the father of John his surname was WHITECOTTON, a perfectly old English name going back to Virginia, but coming up this way they frequently used the White as a middle name, or even just the initial W. We know of no Cotton with the middle name of Cotton except as expained above, or they dropped the White completely.
