Below is a link to the 3rd Michigan Infantry memorial page with a biography and picture of Zara Luzerne Cotton. I have heard that some people believe the picture is of Powell who's daughter Liza, Zara had married. Powell was a southerner and the South did not give award any medals to Confederate veterans. Ever. Note the medals pinned to Zara's shirt.
