Some researchers claim Arthur was married to a Sybil Lovelace or Loveless but I haven't seen any proof of that. He was apparently married to Sarah at the time of his death so Sybil would have to be an earlier wife if she actually existed. I don't know if Sarah's maiden name was Moore or not but Arthur's mother was Helen Moore so he may have married a cousin. Arthur's second son was named Cullen after his father so it may be that the eldest son, Theophilus, was named after Sarah's father. Some researchers have claimed that Arthur was the son of Theophilus Cotton of Halifax/Edgecombe County, NC. This Theophilus was a first cousin of Arthur's actual father Cullen. Edgefield County estate records show that Arthur was the son of Cullen. He had two brothers, Josiah and Jonathan and four sisters, Beersheba, Sylvia, Christian and one more whose name I don't know (she was married to Simeon Perry). I have the following children for Arthur and Sarah Cotten - Theophilus, b. 1804 Cullen, b. 1806 Irena, b. 1807 Eldred, b. 1809 Johial, b. 1811 Didema, b. 1814 Mary, b. 1815 Benjamin, b. 1821 Eliabeth, b. 1825 Sarah, b. 1830 I am descended from Thomas Cotten and Ann Moore. Thomas was the brother of Arthur Cotten, grandfather of the Arthur who was the father of your Theophlius. I don't know if Ann Moore was related to the Helen Moore who married Cullen Cotten but she may very well have been since all of these families came from the same part of North Carolina. Cullen's sister Elizabeth Cotten married a James Moore in Hertford Co., NC. Notify Administrator about this message?
