Saw your posting on GenForum. I have seen Leonard Cotton in the GA census and have wondered about his connection to my Cotton line. I have a reference that he joined Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Harris County in the 1830's along with a Rebecca Cotton. I have an ancestor named James Kennon Cotten, b. 1811, whom I believe to be the son of George and Rebecca Pennington Cotton of Warren County, GA This George Cotton may have had another son, George W. Cotton (b. 1798) by his first wife, Amelia Beall. George W. was living in Morgan Co. in 1830 and is shown owning land in Harris and Carroll also. But I can't find him in those locations in 1840. I have been curious because there were also Pennington's at Mtn. Creek Baptist at the same time as Leonard. Does any of this "ring a bell"? Please respond to my home address: jperkins@mindspring.com
