Cotton/Davis/Wilbanks connection Noxubee Co MS mid 1800s

I'm researching my great-grandmother's lineage. She was Alice Cotton (b abt 1875 MS). Her father was John B Cotton (b abt 1847 MS). They were in Noxubee Co MS in 1900.

Per MS marriage records, a J B Cotton m1 M A Davis in Noxubee Co 1870; m2 Virginia "Jennie" Pratt in Noxubee 1896. So I'm assuming Miss M A Davis died. When I was a kid, my mom and my aunts referred to Miss Pratt an Aunt Jennie Pratt.

My problem: I cannot locate Miss M A Davis' parentage. I did locate a Mary Ann Davis (b abt 1849 TN) living with Warren Smith Wilbanks (b abt 1792 SC) in Noxubee Co MS 1860 census. So I'm assuming that this Mary Ann Davis was someway related to Mr Wilbanks, and possibly she became the first wife of John B Cotton??

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you, Lynda
