I just thought that I should point out that Ann Cotton probably didn't write the original history of Bacon's Rebellion known as "the Burwell papers". I think that the present consensus is that the original document was written by John Cotton and Ann later created a condensed version in the form of a letter to Christopher Harris of Yardley Gobion, Northamptonshire. There is an interesting chapter in Jay B. Hubbell's book "South and Southwest: Literary Essays and Reminiscences" called "John Cotton, Poet Historian of Bacon's Rebellion". You might find it interesting if you can locate a copy. Unfortunately Hubbell takes a stab at genealogy at one point in the chapter and incorrectly assumes that John was the son of Rev. William Cotton of the Eastern Shore, but his analysis of the writing and the history is informative.
