Stephen O. Cotton and James M. Cotton were the sons of Stephen G. Cotton and Catherine Bedell Duffy, widow. In 1850, they were living in Macon County, Georgia.

I do not know if these Murry children were adopted by the Stephen G. Cotton family or if there was an existing family connection. The Stephen G. Cotton family moved to Texas.
