I am researching the Holland family and, in particular, my 5xggrandfather Richard Holland. A Michael Cotten posted a message on GenForum indicating that Mary Cotton, daughter of John Holland Sr. and Mary Godwin Holland was the wife of this same Richard Holland. Richard Holland purchased and sold land in Bertie county,NC in 1723 and later. In your message Mary Cotton was not listed as one of the children of Thomas Cotton Sr. and was said to have married another man. I, along with many other Hollands, would like to know if there is any proof that this Richard Holland was married to Mary Cotton of Bertie county,NC. Some of the land sales were witnessed by John Cotton who I believe to be John Cotton Jr. and wife Edith who would have been a brother-in-law to Richard if this marriage can be proven. Any information that you could give me would be very much appreciated.
