Trying to verify my father's pedigree chart. He has the first COTTON listed as Joshua from Sussex, VA who died in 1771 and was married to Susanna. They had a son, Jesse who was born 18 dec 1757 in Sussex, VA and died 1822 in Johnston, NC. He was married to Mourning Jones. They had a daughter Mary "Polly" who was born 12 Nvo 1797 in Cumberland, NC. She died 26 Mar 1858 in Jasper MS. She married George Washington Massingill and had a son, George Mordecia Massingale (for some reason the spelling of the last name was changed). George Mordecia Massingale married Martha Miriam Mcgowan and had a daugher, Margaret "Nannie" Massingale, who married Benjamin Humphries Donald, my Great Grandfather.
