I do not know if Polly (Mary) Cotton, daughter of Seth and Rebecca, married a Caprpenter. I do not have anything on her. I do know that it is correct that Mary Cotton, daughter of Gabriel and Milly Cotton, married Solomon Carpenter. They have 12 children listed on the 1850 Census for Chatham Co, NC. Five of their sons served in the Civil War. Four of them did not return home. There is a story of "The Carpenter Boys from Southeast Chatham County" available online at http://www.lanesociety.org/carpent.htm

Mary Cotton Carpenter was the sister of my gr.gr.grandmother, Elizabeth Cotton Holleman.
