The Benjamin Cotton family you're refering to came from the city of Portsmouth in Rockingham county in the state of NH. George W Cotton came from Warren, Grafton Co., NH. My grandmother was a Bixby and had relatives married into this family. Norris Cotton b. 1900 was a U.S. Senator from NH.
I would also like any earlier info on the Cottons
