I am looking for information on a Mary Cotton who married a James C. or John Cotton. The Mary I seek had a son James Washinton Cotten, b. abt. 1834 in Sussex Co. His first marriage gives his parents as James C. and Mary Cotten. His second marriage lists them as John and Mary Cotten. I can find neither marriage and no other sources listing his father.
I have found James living with Mary in Petersburg in the 1850 census. Mary A. Cotton died 1859 and is buried in Blandford Cemetary, Petersburg. Her death certificate lists her parents as Howell and Mary Cotton and her birth place as Sussex Co. VA. She would have been born abt. 1811.
I have read postings on the Thomas Cotton line, which includes Howell, but see no info other than his birth. Thanks for sharing!
