Richard Cotton, Esq., was born in 1539 and died in 1602. He was the son of Sir George Cotton of Combermere and his wife, Mary Onley. Richard mar. 1st, Mary Mainwaring and had approx. 8 children. Richard mar. 2nd in 1578 to Jane/Joane Seyliard. It is reported that they had 4 sons and 2 daus. One dau., Jane, was named in her grandmother's will. Two young sons, Thomas and Robert, are identified in parish registers. This leaves one daughter and two sons unnamed. Seeking to identify those unnamed children. One of the unnamed sons could be Jeffrey Cotton of nearby Bunbury parish.
