For those of us who descend from Joseph Cottle of Woodstock, Vermont-I have a copy of a document just received and written in Joseph Cottle's handwriting. He was not a Universalist Deacon as we have understood-but was Clerk of the Woodstock Baptist Church in Windsor County, Vermont. He was probably a Deacon but in the Baptist Church. This document was written "in behalf of the Baptist Society of Woodstock" and also includes these names: Elijah Ransom, Phineas Thomas, Joseph Perry, and Jonathan Thomas.
