The name Richard somehow sounds like an Acadian ancestor. Suggest you try to find Bergerons's genealogy on Acadians at your genealogy society. Also St Charles parish church records are all available on LDS microfilm and the nearest Quebec National Archives, and perhaps other places that hold French Canada resources.
