I stand by my statement that there were no "Pioneers" in Quebec, and that Quebec City did not exist when Jean Cote' dit Coste was alive.

Did you watch the NFB film? Wikipedia is not the best source for research.

There was an Iroquoian Village known as Stadacona, quite a large village on the site (all this is in the film). First the Recollets, and then the Jesuits, set up a colony for their Huron-Wendat converts on the Ile d'Orleans nearby. Jean Cote' and his wife Anne Martin were among the first converts. By the way it was a common practice to send Native North American children to France to be educated, and then they were returned to the Jesuit colony as workers.

Champlain's first settlement was Port Royal, which was in Acadia, that's in the Maritimes, pretty far away from present day Quebec City. The second settlement was on the Ile d'Orleans. This was not a thriving city, it was from 28 and down to 8 people by 1608, and those 8 almost died from scurvy, not knowing what to eat to prevent it.

It really might be helpful to you to familiarise yourself with the history of the time and the place, and again, Wikipedia is not going to be the best source to look at.

The Jesuit Relations spell out pretty clearly what was going on during that time, i.e. Huron children were being converted, sent to France for an education, and then returned as "French". It also clearly states that the name "Martin" is the francisation of "Matchonon" (Huron) e.g.:

"On the 3rd of November of the same year [1635-36?], Father Charles l'Allemant baptized a young Savage about twenty-five years old, called by the people of his nation Matchonon, surnamed by the French, Martin; at baptism he received the name of Joseph."

"Savage" is what the Jesuits called the Huron people.

D. Garneau's site is also useful in that there is a timeline to follow.

Of course people are going to believe what they want to believe despite the facts, but if you believe something absurd such as Quebec City existing years before it did, and Quebec City being filled only with European Pioneers just off the boat from France in the early to mid 1600s, excuse me if I find it funny. But nonetheless, it might be helpful to you to look into history a bit more than you seem to have done.
