Augustin Cote (B: 1695) - Looking or information

Hello! to all you other Cote's. As you, I am very proud of my ancestry and have taken a more keen interest of late since I move closer to the matriach of our branch, my aunt Lily Pinder (nee: Cote)

I recently started working with my Aunt Lily to help her complete our "Branch" of the Cote family. She has done some wonderful work along with my cousin Pearl Martin. I am trying to tie up some loose ends as well as to properly source the information we have to date.

I have gone through hundreds pages of information on the internet trying to clarify one issue in our lineage, with no success. I am hoping one of you kind spirits can help me out.

Of course, we all descend from that great couple Jean Cote and Anne Martin.

Next, my lineage follows their son Noel Joseph Cote to his son Augustin Cote.

This is where it goes astray. My aunt has Augustin Cote, (B:Sept, 1st,1695) to Agnes Bousseau (B:Sept 23rd, 1718) at St. Laurent (presumed Isle D'Orleans) Quebec on Nov. 18th, 1751. (note the date of marriage)

Now, this contradicts everything I've read on the various internet sites which are pretty uniform in stating that Augustin Cote died in 1737. As well, they state that he married Marie-Madeleine Baillargeon on Jan 29th, 1720 in St. Laurent, Isle D'Orleans. This seems much more plausible.

None of these sites name any children for Augustin Cote, however, my Aunt says there were two children. She only give one childs name, the one that concerns my branch, who is;
(note the date of Francois birth, 1752. One year after my aunt has Austine married, but 15 years after all other sources give his date of death and 32 years after his marriage? I fear I may be missing a generation here?)

Francois Cote (B:Sept. 8th, 1752) who married Marie Francoise Morisette(B: Dec. 12th, 1756) at St. Michel, Bellchasse, Quebec. They had fourteen (14) children. Fracois Cote died at St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. No date of marriage is given. My aunt only mentions one child:

Barnabe Cote B:1804) at St. Michel, Bellchasse, Quebec, who married Reine Daigneau (B: 1813) at St. Michel, Bellchasse, Quebec. They married on Oct. 22nd, 1833 and had eight (8) children.

The one that relates to me is;

Michel Cote (B:Feb. 14th, 1841) married Josephine Magnon (B:Oct. 7th, 1844). They married on Oct. 26th, 1874 at Weedon, Quebec. They had nine (9) children, six sons and three daughters

Joseph Cote, born Jan. 11th, 1875, married Clara Gauthier
Paul Elzeard, born Feb. 15th, 1877
Louise Leger, born Oct. 23rd, 1880, married Adelia Palardy.
Rose Delima, married Alphonse Cote (B: July 30th, 1880)
Damase Antoine Boren??? born Oct. 10th, 1884, married Azilda Goulet.
Josephine, born June 9th, 1886,
Fortuna (F), born Nov. 28th, 1888,
Victor, born Feb. 23rd, 1890, married Odelie Corriveau.
Wilfred, born Sept. 25th, 1898 married Eva Richard.

Paul Elzeard Cote is my grandfather. He married Alice Hargreaves (B:Oct. 28th, 1896 at Preston Burnley, England). They married on Feb. 3rd, 1919 at Plainfield, Connecticut. Paul was a Loom Repairer and moved to Plainfield sometime around 1917-18 for work. There he met Alice who was a loom operator (wonder what he was looking at instead of working, lol) they married and eventually moved to the Burlington, NY area where they settle on a farm, then eventually back to St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec area.

My Aunt Lily and cousin Pearl have working from notes made in a bible from my Grandmother Alice and Aunt Florence, which were made from my Grandfathers memory and various discussions with other family members. Their was goodwill in their creation, but the methology leaves some gaps.

As you can see, I am missing some information. By posting on this site, I am hoping someone can fill the gaps to help us make an accurate and complete picture of our branch, as well as hoping to meet new family members and help others if we can.

Anything you can give me to clarify the Augustin Cote issue would be greatly appreciated.

This is my first posting and I am looking forward to many more.
(ps: I hope I wasn't too wordy)

Michel Cote
