Hi folks: I live in NS but am no relation to any of your family - that I know of. I do know that Simoneau is NOT a French names from NS (not really from "Acadie" at all). You may have to go to Québec to research that family history, unless you have definite facts that one or two families lived in NS or NB for a number of generations. The phone book under - www.canada411.com - is a good first place to start. The early Côté and Simoneau families may well have lived at Fortress Louisbourg. There are still 63 Côté names in the phone listings, and most are in Cape Breton not too far away from Louisbourg, the rest around Halifax. Try some of the following info sources: ACADIAN HISTORY SOURCES (1997 info) in the Chéticamp Area - www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/2162/ - this is a good starting place. Father Charles AuCoin, born Feb. 19, 1911, and Charlie Dan Roach, Edmond Burns and Jean Doris LeBlanc.
