Harold,

A little additional info found on these families from the Washington Co., FL Home Pages to add to my previous note.

Glenwood - Chipley City Cemetery

RIGGINS John 13 Mar 1955 age 97 yrs Glenwood

RIGGINS Lucy 11 Oct 1866 15 Mar 1952 Glenwood

COSTNER Earnest 1910 1955 Glenwood

COATNER Earnest 1910 1955 Original
RIGGINS John 1858 13 Mar 1955 Original
RIGGINS Lucy 11 Oct 1866 15 Mar 1952 Original

Florida Death Index 1877-1998
Name: Earnest Costner
Place: Bay
Gender: M
Race: W
Volume: 1739
Certificate: 20665
Death: 1955

I have NO dates on Earnest Costner other than death date in Cem and Fl Death Indices show that he died in 1955 in Bay Co., FL
Lucy Riggins died in Chipley, Washington Co., FL on 15 Mar 1952
John Riggins died in Gadsden, AL although I did not find him in the Al Death Indices and he was brought back to Chipley for burial.

I found this additional 1910 FL CENSUS record for John Riggins:

1910 CENSUS: Washington Co, FL: House 243/263 Forrester Ave:
ED 121; Pg 10B:Chipley Pct & Chipley Town: 15 Apr 1910; Owns Farm Free ; No children listed
ANCESTRY Pg 20:
RIGGINS, John Head 43 M1 20Yrs GA/GA/GA Can't read OCCP
Lucy Wife 43 M1 20Yrs GA/TN/ILL NONE

Do not know when John & Lucy removed to Chipley from DeKalb Co., AL but must be prior to 1910 Census since I found them in Washington Co., Fl then.Do not have access to 1900 FL Census other than Ancestry but slow process trying to look at each page on line.
Another interesting fact from the 1910 CENSUS shows that they were married 20 Yrs in 1910. Means marriage took place between 1889-1890 probably in ALABAMA.

Appears Luther H. Costner did not bring family into Chipley area until after 1912 to 1920 when last children born. Refer to my previous Query for the Census info.

Luther H. Costner died in Holmes county in 1944 but year ONLY is from FL Death Indices.

1920 Census records show that Earnest Costner with his family (Costmer -misspelled) in 1920 FL. Earnest died in BAY Co., FL in 1955, again ONLY year no dates. Ibelieve this is actually the Twin Earney who later went by Earnest also like his other brother whom I located in the SSDI deceased in Mar 1989 in Boaz, Marshall Co., AL.

His father Luther was living with his mother Lucy Riggins in 1930 FL Census and listed as Widowed. I did not find the other Costner children on the 1930 FL census. The mother Mattie evidently Died between 1920-1930 but I can't locate in cem records for county on line or death indices for FL.

The daugther Ethel M. Costner probably married between 1920-1930 - There may be some marriage records for her.

I will place queries to try to obtain the OBITS for the Riggins and Earnest Costner from Washington Co., FL.

Would be helpful to obtain the OBITS for John Riggins died 13 mar 1955 Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL and Earnest COSTNER who died 3 Mar 1989 Boaz, Marshall Co., AL. These may both provide valuable clues to the family survivors and their mystery.

Waiting to hear from you soon.
