Dear Paul,

Thank you for your note of March 27th. Unfortunately, I do not know for certain where Michael Costello and Mary Fleming were born, but it appears that my grandfather, Mark Costello, was born in Garbally. His wife's family, the Cartys or McCartys, lived just down the road in Ballimona. I understand that they were all baptized in Skehana, but this is not yet confirmed. Mark had several siblings, among them: John, Winifred (emigrated to USA, married a Mannion), Dennis, Thomas (also emigrated to USA, married a Delia Cooke), and possibly a Patrick. My maternal grandmother, Bridget (Delia) Carty, almost emigrated to Australia; indeed, she may have gone there briefly before returning to the US. On my father's side of the family, my father's maternal grandmother, Mary Rankin, from Broxburn, Scotland, died young in the 1890's; thereafter, her brothers and sisters went to Australia - probably not relatives, but a down under relationship of sorts.

I will check out the web-site you mention and see if I see anything familiar.
Thanks again and let me know if there's any connection.

Kind regards,

Brian P. Molloy
Orono, Maine
