Hi Cheri,

I wish I could help you to find the origen of the surname Campos. My grandfather used to say that his family had emigrated from Cartago, Costa Rica to the area of Santa Teresa, Carazo, Nicaragua after one eruption of the Irazu Volcano in the XVIII century. The earlier record I found was of an ancestor named Cruz Campos who was born in 1843 in Santa Teresa. I do not know when this town was founded but after the independence from Spain this town is mentioned during the first civil war in Nicaragua I think around 1823. I found this information in a History of Nicaragua Book. This could be the same family.
