Are there any family members of William Powell who was married to Vivian (or Vivien) Wright. William Powell immigrated from St.Elizabeth, Jamaica. He had a daughter Gertrude Powell (Her mother was Emily Elliott of Ballard's Valley, St. Elizabeth Jamaica). William Powell died in the United Fruit Company Hospital probably between 1930's - 1950's (exact date unknown. Gertrude Gordon, nee' Powell commissioned the Jamaican government to find her father in Costa Rica when she was of age, at age 21yrs. Gertrude was born in 1927. Gertrude is my mother, she has 8 children of which I am the youngest. I am living in Australia. Apparently William Powell was wounded in action in the 1st world war, but survived. Gertrude knows she has sisters born in Costa Rica of the Union between her father William and his wife. Her sisters attempted to contact her by letter in Jamaica, unfortunately, Gertrude had immigrated to England, and her mother mislaid the letters. However, she did inform Gertrude of the fact she had sisters in Costa Rica who were trying to contact. However, without an address to reply to Gertrude never made contact with her sisters. Gertrude has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. If anyone knows of the wereabouts of this Costa Rican branch of the family, please reply. Bye the way we are related to thee Colin Powell (fomer joint chief of staff US government. Grandpa William was second cousin to Colin's father!
