Dear "relatives",

Thank you very much for the interesting trackings of the Costanzo family. I am specially interested in Chris posting about the family history. My father came from a little town in southern Italy named Episcopia (Lucania)and came to Venezuela (South America) after WW2. I remember him telling us a story about famous Costanzo Condottiere from Castelfranco whose name was Matteo Costanzo, he was a Mecenas of the famous renaissance painter Giorgione. Is that northern (venetian) family related with the southern Costanzos? I remember him (my father) telling us the story of the remote origins of the family in Germany however I do not remember the name of city of Constance in his stories. I do not know if this is true or not but according to my father stories they first arrived in Italy as part of a mercenary army. Apparently the roots of the surname are in "costelli" (ribs) and the coat of arms displays an arrangement of ribs (is that true??)
