Clarence Cossey
Clarence Cossey, 93, died Friday, July 14, 2000 in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services are pending with Hampton-Vaughn Crestview.
Born a twin in the Indian Territory of Elk City, OK, he moved to Wichita Falls in time for school and attended for a few years at Austin Elementary School in Wichita Falls.
He took a wife and had four children, three of whom survive him, and later had two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and grand and great-grandchildren from east to west ocean land.
Himself, too young for WWI and too old for WWII, had sons too young for Korea's War and too old for Vietnam too, not to forget his grandsons who escaped the draft too.
Worked as a boxer, laborer, roustabout, plumber, and barber, finally, at Hardin Jr. College, found his lifework, a repairer of watches and clocks, but he could have been a safety engineer because he could always everywhere identify errors and danger.
Believed in education and wanted his children and their children to become white collar middle class college people with their children.
In Wichita Falls, TX, he met his Savior, Jesus Christ, joined Lamar Baptist Church, and ne'er another, a true Baptist, and later was selected for the adult teacher list.
You're right, he was a chronic griper and pessimistic, but to me, he will always be young, strong and athletic.
