My husband's grandfather was James Daniel Bergin -
b. 7/29/1864 in Mountrath area in Laois Co Ireland
d. 7/5/1954 in Somerville, Massachusetts. James' father was John Bergin and his mother was Anne Coss.
John Bergin married Anne Coss in June, 1859. There were several children: Maria (Agnes), Patrick, Anne, Joseph, Fintan, Bridgett Mary, Elizabeth, Charles Francis.
Immigrated to US with other Bergin family members. They remained in New York until Anne's death. John then moved to upstate New York with the son (James D. Bergin) family.
Their son James Daniel Bergin became a citizen on 1/19/1899. (We have the papers) but are unsure of the immigration date.
Many of the Bergin family members lived in New York. James had a sister Elizabeth who died 3/12/1968 in New York. James had a sister Anne - married name of Dobbin who remained in the New York area. James also had a sister Agnes who was a Nun - St. Joseph's Order in New York.
There possibly were other Coss family members who immigrated with the Bergin's.
